The developers of Humane, a startup founded by former Apple employees, have presented an innovative development: a smartphone without a screen that supports artificial intelligence systems. The small square device looks like a brooch and is attached to clothing using magnets. It can be controlled by voice, gestures or touch. The body has a built-in laser projector that can transmit an image directly to the user’s palm. The Ai Pin device will be available in three colors: Eclipse, Equinox and LunarHumane. Interestingly, IviBet, a popular bookmaker platform, is also innovating in the way people interact with online betting.
With a user-friendly interface and seamless app experience, IviBet brings entertainment and convenience to a whole new level. This makes it an ideal complement to groundbreaking devices like the AI Pin, which aim to simplify and enhance user experience.
Specifications
The miniature AI Pin smartphone has a square shape and consists of two parts – the body itself, weighing about 34 g, and a 20 g battery. The developers claim that users will be able to change batteries. This eliminates the need to look for outlets to recharge the smartphone if the device is close to discharge at some point. Two batteries will be included in the kit.
The smartphone runs on a Snapdragon microprocessor from Qualcomm and is equipped with a microphone, speaker, a wide-angle 13 MP RGB camera, motion and depth sensors, and a miniature projector. It runs on the Cosmos OS. You do not need to install special applications on your phone to configure the device.
Unlike a number of other gadgets, AI Pin does not respond to keywords and you will need to turn it on manually, after which the indicator light will light up, notifying you that the “smart brooch” is collecting data.
Device Capabilities
AI Pin performs almost all the functions of a traditional smartphone. It does not have a conventional display, but it does have a touchpad. The necessary information is displayed as a projection – Ai Pin has a miniature projector built into it that transmits all the necessary data: date and time, navigation information, weather data, notifications, etc. It is convenient to use your palm extended in front of you as a screen.
Although the OS does not have conventional applications, there is access to the AI Experiences function, which activates access to the required AI module depending on the task at hand. The display is analogous to the projection of the desktop onto the user’s palm. The current time is displayed on the main screen, and by pinching your fingers, you can display weather data or a calendar. You can interact with the projected image – for example, scroll through a playlist by turning your palm to the sides. You can ask the AI-based virtual assistant any question you are interested in in free form. You can also send messages using voice control.
The assistant can also select a summary of incoming messages or find the one you need. With the help of the camera, AI Pin can understand what food is in front of the device and provide the user with information about the portion size, calorie content, sugar and nutritional elements. This feature will be useful for people with health-related dietary restrictions or those who are on a diet. With the help of an algorithm that takes into account what you have eaten and provides statistics on request, it is convenient to monitor your diet.
Thanks to cooperation with TIDAL, the device received a “personal speaker” that allows you to play music or other audio information at a comfortable volume level. Thus, according to the developers, a “sound bubble is created that can provide both privacy and loud playback.” It is also possible to connect the device to Bluetooth headphones.
In addition, AI Pin allows you to:
- search for answers to various user questions;
- make calls, send messages (you can limit the circle of callers, and when entering a message, ask the system to make the text more friendly or, conversely, formal);
- receive a summary of the contents of letters from mail (summary);
- translate from foreign languages in both directions, preserving the original intonation;
- listen to music, including personalized selections (thanks to the pairing with the Tidal streaming music service);
- use the capabilities of a virtual assistant (for example, you can tell the system about sugar consumption restrictions to get help in adhering to the daily norm – if a product with a high sugar content appears in front of the camera, the assistant will notify you about it, and also report the amount of calories and nutrients);
- search by photos, videos, lists, voice notes in your Humane Center personal account (opens from any browser);
So far, the device only takes photos, but after a software update, it will also be able to record video. Also, in the future, Humane plans to add a navigator and a function that allows you to make purchases to the AI Pin.
